I’m guessing we all know by now that a new Banksy artwork has appeared at Southampton General Hospital. Not a secret night time endeavour but by arrangement with the hospital’s managers. How lovely, brightened up my day just knowing that it’s there. So is my granddaughter Louise who is working there as a nurse and says she’s looking forward to going in tomorrow and seeing it hanging in the foyer. Hope you take a photo Lou. I bet everyone smiles as they walk past it. It’s going to be there till autumn so maybe I’ll take a trip there and see it before it’s auctioned.
Another thing to cheer me up today was an orchid that was left outside my door. Went to go out to collect my car from it’s MOT and there it was. I definitely went out with a spring in my step, it’s nice when people think of you, came from a man too 😏.
Local (here in Bournemouth) MP Connor Burns has resigned as trade minister. He made veiled threats to use parliamentary privilege against a member of the public who was in a dispute with his father. He will continue as MP for Bournemouth West. Not much to say on that.
I’ve watched the first episode of Normal People but haven’t yet formed an opinion, it was only half an hour so will need to watch more. I also watched the episode of The Crown where London was enveloped in smog and that brought back a few memories. I can remember going to school when it was so thick you couldn’t see your own hand outstretched in front of you. At this time we had moved out of London and living in Essex. I also recollect struggling to get to grammar school on public transport in the smog. I had to catch a bus, two trains and another bus. By the time I arrived it was nearly mid-day and was told to go home as I might not make it if I didn’t leave there and then. If my grandchildren were to ask me if I found it scary, the honest answer is no, I never thought about it. It was, in a funny sort of way exciting, apart from the fact that it got in your eyes and up your nostrils and when you blew your nose, black dusty stuff came out. I don’t remember it becoming political either but I was still a young teenager and never thought about it from that point of view.
I’ve been to Wilko again buying compost and pots for my balcony which isn’t very big although there are two, one in the lounge and one in my bedroom. Still boredom in lockdown seems to drive me to keep buying stuff to put on them. I’ve got a flat pack shelving unit to put the pots on and I might put that together tomorrow. I’ve got pots – too many probably- and soil, maybe not enough and definitely not enough plants for the number of pots I’ve purchased. I promise to take a photo when it’s all done and post in in my blog. But for now Night night, sleep tight 😴💤😴
