My very favourite news item today – the day it became necessary to carry a face mask with us in case we decide to pop into a shop, along with the fold up nylon shopping bag of course. Anyway, back to my favourite news item. In Oxford Street, London a man was spotted striding along wearing nothing but a face mask and it wasn’t on his face. It was prudently hiding his private parts and I had to wonder if face masks come in different sizes. The man was photographed from a first floor office above the street. He looked serious and determined and I have to tell you girls that he was really very cute. (everyone rushes to google) The Evening Standard article went on to inform us how shoppers were reacting, who cares? just give us the pics.
With most of the news today about face masks, in Wakefield, West Yorkshire a reporter was interviewing a shopkeeper about how she was tackling the new requirement. The owner of the shop said she was going to be very strict and not let anyone into her shop if they didn’t have face covering. She welcomed her customers in, all masked up and invited them to use hand sanitiser, funny thing was this owner was not wearing a face mask herself. Fine her a hundred quid.
Up on Wandsworth Common police were called after a man was spotted floating in the pond. PCs Amy Bale and Red Haddouch called to the man but there was no reply. They noticed that the man was beginning to go under and without more ado waded into the pond to rescue him. They dragged him out and onto dry land and put him in the recovery position and saw he was still alive. While waiting for the emergency services, PC Amy chatted to the man building up a good rapport and then went with him in the ambulance. She was in her wet uniform for three hours then went back to the station to shower and change and back on patrol. Nice one Amy, I’ll nominate you for a promotion, so much better than a medal.
BoJo has said that his government got some things wrong when dealing with the covid crisis. To be fair no government could have foreseen what to do exactly but advice could definitely have been clearer. The whole of the government guidelines have been so difficult to interpret that not even his chief adviser could work it out. On the other side of the Atlantic and biting at the bit to get out on the campaign trail, the POTUS opened his mouth and put his foot right in it. He boasted that he has been mentioned in 79 rap songs and that before becoming president he had a great life. He then went on to to say that everything was going well till the China illness proved to be a downer and a dampener on his poll numbers. Never mind the 140,000 Americans who have died from the pandemic, but of course he wasn’t responsible, was he? 😴💤😴
