I have to say that I’m more than a little surprise as it seems that our PM must have been reading nannyjune.com. After my report yesterday about the A level algorithm fiasco and my saying that ‘someone must do something and quickly’,BoJo has done a U turn and results will now be based on teacher assessments. I think the country has given a collective sigh of relief.
Talking of leaders the President of Portugal is on holiday in the Algarve supposedly to boost national tourism there. He was on the beach when he noticed that two women with a kayak were in trouble with their craft upturned and they were struggling in the water. President Ribelo de Sousa immediately swam out to try to help. Another swimmer was already there and a man on a jet ski also approached. Very well done that man. Meanwhile in the US Trump supporters have found a new social distancing way of holding election rallies. They have taken to the high seas and rivers forming what are known as trumptillers. In Oregon there were so many boats speeding together that the wake created swamped a boat that contained a family trying to have a quiet day on the river. The boat was sunk and the family was rescued by the trumptilla. Just proves I suppose that the POTUS still has supporters and they are about as daft as him.
One supporter he doesn’t seem to have is his missus the FLOTUS Melania. They were descending the steps of Airforce One while trying to look presidential when the Trump tried to take Melania’s hand. She brushed it aside and he tried again with the same result. If I have to be fair it could be that she was trying to hold her skirt down as it was a bit breezy but it could also be that she really didn’t want to hold his pudgy little paw.
The highest temperature recorded on earth has been at Death Vally National Park in California. It has just reached 130º F (54.4ºC). A woman that lives and works there said it’s too hot to go outside in the summer as it’s like being hit by a bunch of hairdryers. She said it’s like walking into an oven with the heat all around you. I can remember Madrid being like that although it only rose to 42 or 43 but as it’s a concrete city surrounded by mountains the heat came out of the pavements and buildings as well as from above. I always said it was like walking through a fan oven. The current heat wave in the US goes from Arizona right up to Washington State and is predicted to last at least another ten days. Now that’s what I call a heat wave. And it’s time for bed so good night. 😴💤😴
