Breaking the Law. Day 166.

On Friday this week I’ll be having my gall bladder removed so tomorrow I’m off to get the infamous covid test. Now while I’m not worried about the keyhole surgery I’m definitely not looking forward to the test. The thought of someone swabbing right down the back of my throat and, I think, up my nostril doesn’t make me happy. Still as someone said to me today, ‘they know what they’re doing and it only takes a few seconds’.  This time tomorrow I’ll know the answer to that and I’ll also know if I’m covid free.

Someone had the audacity to steal a narrowboat from a marina in Leicestershire. Now the thief must have been having a laugh because the only route a narrowboat can take would be along the canal with a speed limit of 4mph. He couldn’t have expected to get very far. I think that must be one for my bucket list except we don’t have any canals down here. I once knew a man who stole a London bus and took it for a ride around the capital but he had had a few too many drinks when he did it.

While I’m on the subject of stealing things a Frenchman has been fined a thousand euros for taking sand from a beach in Sardinia. It would seem that the beaches have pink or very white sand and it can be sold on the internet for a fair sum of money so thefts have been increasing. Similarly, I remember visiting the petrified forest in Arizona which we went to having taking a wrong turn out of New Mexico. There were signs everywhere warning visitors not to take the rock crystals covering the ground. It was one of the few occasions when I have really wanted to break the law. I’m proud to say that I resisted. When we got to the nearby shops after our visit I found that I could buy a piece of the rock but perversely I no longer wanted it.

If you are thinking of moving house and would like something a little bit different, you might be interested in a three bed property in Norfolk. The current owner purchased the village hall some years ago and as he was a keen skate boarder at the time he built an indoor, wooden skate park when converting it into a home. There is also a state of he art kitchen, three bedrooms, lounge and a bathroom. A snip at £240 k.

Having sniped at the Sussexes for some time now,  I must finish by saying that they have already paid back the 2.4 million they owed for the renovation of Frogmore Cottage. It will be their family home for when they visit England and they will be paying market value rent. That was very quick following their Netflix deal and they have notched up quite a few brownie points.  😴💤😴
